ABSTRACT
The Shainin System (SS) is evaluated as a general-purpose improvement system; one that can work in a wide variety of organizations, functions, cultures, and processes. Particular attention is focused on the SS from the perspective of improvement context, methodology, strategy, management and tools. This view identifies some of the key strengths and weaknesses of the SS and shows how the approach can be enhanced to be effective in many different improvement situations.
