Abstract
In this paper, an original modal technique is proposed as promising tool for fast and accurate analysis of asymmetric coplanar-type structures on isotropic/anisotropic substrates. For this aim, a new quasi-symmetric approach was introduced, using C- and π-mode trial functions along with the mathematical operator formalism used in electromagnetism. It efficiently evaluates the dispersion effect of coplanar structures leading to smaller-size dispersion matrix and thus, reducing the CPU time without losing the overall design accuracy. The proposed approach was demonstrated through successful comparisons with published data to further confirm the adequate choice of trial functions used in this quasi-symmetric model.
