Abstract

A metasurface consisting of three layer H-shaped arrayed structures is proposed. Numerical simulation and experiment results demonstrate that our scheme can realize mutual polarization conversion and multi-band diode-like asymmetric transmission for linearly polarized waves in the microwave region. This designed metasurface can achieve cross-polarization conversion with a high magnitude of 0.93 for y-to-x polarization and 0.92 for x-to-y polarization at 6.4 and 13.6 GHz, respectively. The polarization conversion between two orthogonal linearly polarized waves is also analyzed by the activity and ellipticity. We have found the structure has the multi-band 90° polarization rotation angle and almost zero ellipticity for both x- and y-polarized waves at two resonant frequencies. We believe our findings are beneficial in enriching the application in photonic devices such as polarization rotators and diode-like devices.
