Abstract

A generalized network method is proposed in this paper for rigorous analysis of the sub-reflector scattering problem in a dual-reflector antenna, by dividing it into two subdomains, i.e. a feed and a sub-reflector. The addition theorems of spherical waves help connect the independent subdomain scattering matrix representations, leading to a global generalized network. A numerical example in a single-displaced Cassegrain dual-reflector antenna is presented to validate our method. The numerical results are then compared against those by the method of moment. The excellent coincidence with respect to the reflection coefficient of the feed, and the amplitude and phase of the scattered field in a near-field region demonstrates the accuracy of the hybrid method. Besides, its computational efficiency promises our method great potentials to compute the scattered fields in a sub-reflector configuration. Further combination with physical optics leads to a complete numerical solution for dual-reflector antennas.
