ABSTRACT

This paper presents a detailed analysis on the distribution of the electric field inside and outside the bounded-wave simulator excited by HEMP (early part), and the attenuation law of the leakage electric field is verified by a scale-model experiment. Furthermore, at the basis of the energy spectrum distribution of excitation source, the general public and occupational exposures values at different observation points are calculated, and then, the limits of safety ranges are determined according to the guidelines issued by the ICNCP in 1998. The results provide a guidance for people to effectively defend against electric field radiation derived from a bounded-wave simulator.
