Abstract
Two kinds of configurations for chaos communication based on mutual coupling are proposed, in which the semiconductor lasers are subject to incoherent injection so that fine tuning of optical frequency is not required. Good synchronization quality is observed in the configuration with a single feedback loop, and zero lag synchronization is observed in the other without any self-feedback, which reveals that self-feedback is not always needed to realize synchronization. Moreover, chaos shift keying (CSK) and chaos masking (CMS) is respectively used to examine the encryption and decryption properties of both configurations. Numerical results indicate that the messages could be successfully recovered in both schemes, which confirms the possibility of applying incoherent schemes to realize bidirectional communication in double fibers or in a single fiber.
