Abstract
In this work, measurements of spectral transmittance and optical response properties of CdCl2-Cu2Cl2 coatings are presented. The coatings are also examined with the aid of scanning electron micrographs and X-ray diffraction. To explain the features observed in spectral transmittance of darkened photochromic films, some calculations based on a colloidal model obtained from the generalized Maxwell-Garnett theory are carried out. The results about the optical responses to this sample include treatments for different wavelength intervals of irradiation, temperatures and intensities. The optical recording characteristics were determined by measuring the diffraction efficiency as a function of the exposure time for a given spatial frequency.
