Relaxation of antiphase boundary tubes in Ni3Al

Pages 121-128 | Received 12 Aug 1993, Accepted 07 Oct 1993, Published online: 27 Sep 2006

Abstract

Antiphase boundary tubes are identified in some intermetallic compounds by transmission electron microscopy by virtue of the atomic relaxation around them. Atomistic simulation is used here to investigate the relaxation of these tubes. The most important mode of relaxation that produces contrast can be interpreted in terms of the expected supplementary fault displacements of the antiphase boundaries on {111} planes.
