Abstract
Planar defects which appear as straight fringes along different directions are observed in an irradiated sample of an Al62Cu25·5Fe12·5 icosahedral quasicrystal. Using diffraction contrast and trace analyses, these planar defects are identified to lie in the planes perpendicular to fivefold axes and have characteristic vectors along these fivefold directions.
