Increasing the microhardness of the coatings in thermal spraying

Abstract

Investigations were carried out to theoretically justify the increase in the microhardness of coatings produced by thermal spraying using a hydrogen–oxygen gas fuel mixture and an organic propane–butane addition as a result of the formation of the oxides of silicon, chromium, boron, and silicon, and boron carbide. The results show that the addition of propane–butane to the hydrogen–oxygen mixture increases the microhardness of coatings produced by thermal spraying.
