Abstract
MIG is a conventional one-sided welding technique. Although it is an effective technique for aluminium structures, which are increasingly adopted for use in pipes and cast components, the large variation in work accuracy resulting from the very large heat input can be a problem. To produce an all-aluminium body, a welding technology with low heat input and low deformation was developed through a hybrid technique that combines the use of a laser with MIG welding. The resulting hybrid welding process described in this report contributed to improved body accuracy.
