ABSTRACT
The article presents the research results of hardness, residual stresses and ultimate strength of aluminium alloy 1151 and the welding joint after surface treatment with a mixture of hard and ductile particles by the method of cold gas-dynamic sputtering using the DIMET-404 unit. It is shown that the hardness of a plate from an alloy decreases after sputtering from 1300 MPa to 350 MPa and hardness change is observed at a distance of up to 145 μm from the surface. The sputtering of aluminium coating on a plate of aluminium alloy at a temperature of 360 °C increases the residual compressive stress. Treatment of the welding joint and heat-affected zone is attended by a decrease in the magnitude of residual stresses and a decrease in the area of their manifestation. Tensile tests of aluminium alloy specimens with a coating reveal a tendency to increase the ultimate strength of an aluminium alloy with a welded seam under certain parameters of sputtering and coating.
