Evaluation of design conditions for compound special-core drilling composite materials using the fuzzy DEMATEL method

Abstract

In highly competitive manufacturing technologies nowadays, delamination-free hole is expected for composite components using innovative designed tools and optimised drilling parameters due to increase in composite structure production and in the need for higher quality machining. An empirical study successfully applies the proposed fuzzy decision-making trial and evaluation laboratory (DEMATEL) to understand the causal influence of the various tool materials and geometries, as well as machining parameters, in drilling composites using compound special-core drill. The obtained result shows that feed rate is the most important factor in innovative project of tool research and design within the cause group. However, cutting velocity ratio, thickness of outer drill, stretch and grit size of diamond have the best effect on machined parameter selection during drilling composites using compound special-core drills.
