This article refers to:
RETRACTED ARTICLE: Clomiphene citrate combined with metformin versus letrozole for induction of ovulation in clomiphene-resistant polycystic ovary syndrome: a randomized clinical trial

We, the Editor and Publisher of Gynecological Endocrinology, have retracted the following article:

Mohamed Rezk, Abd-Elhamid Shaheen & Ibrahim Saif El-Nasr (2018) Clomiphene citrate combined with metformin versus letrozole for induction of ovulation in clomiphene-resistant polycystic ovary syndrome: a randomized clinical trial, Gynecological Endocrinology, 34:4, 298-300, doiw: 10.1080/09513590.2017.1395838

Since publication, significant concerns have been raised about the integrity of the data and reported results in the article. Specifically, concerns have been raised that Table 1 in this study has identical values for FSH and LH as Table 1 in the following paper from 2016, also by the same first author and which is not referenced:

Rezk M, Sayyed T, Saleh S. Impact of unilateral versus bilateral laparoscopic ovarian drilling on ovarian reserve and pregnancy rate: a randomized clinical trial. Gynecol Endocrinol. 2016;32(5):399-402. doi: 10.3109/09513590.2015.1124262.

When approached for an explanation, the authors responded, but they did not sufficiently address the concerns raised and they have not provided their raw data or other supplemental materials for review. As verifying the validity of published work is core to the integrity of the scholarly record, we are therefore retracting the article. The corresponding author has been informed.

We have been informed in our decision-making by our editorial policies and COPE guidelines.

The retracted article will remain online to maintain the scholarly record, but it will be digitally watermarked on each page as ‘Retracted’.
