An early literacy telecommunication exchange pilot project: the MMM project

Abstract

Using ICT with young children aged three to six does not merely consist in having computers in the classrooms. It implies an innovative approach to early childhood education and basic ideas and changes in educational strategies which open up new horizons to educators. The paper will describe the project MMM (Mini Web, Multilingual, Maxi Learning). MMM is an early literacy telecommunication exchange pilot project for all children aged three to seven, thus developing from an early age lifelong essential competencies in the Information Age and building awareness for international understanding. MMM also enhances cooperation among teachers and increases their knowledge in the use of ICT in early childhood education. Ultimately, MMM will create an e‐learning community of children, and their teachers as well as other faculty members and parents.

Ein frühes Telekommunikations‐Austausch‐Pilotprojekt: Das MMM Projekt

Wenn man ICT mit jungen Kindern zwischen 3 und 6 Jahren nutzt, so bedeutet das ja nicht nur, dass Computer im Klassenraum stehen. Es hat auch eine innovative Annäherung an die frühkindliche Erziehung zur Folge, Grundsätze und Veränderungen in erzieherische Strategien, die für Lehrer neue Horizonte eröffnen. Dieses Papier wird das MMM – Projekt (Mini Web, Multilingual, MaxiLearning) beschreiben. MMM ist ein frühes Pilotprojekt zum Erlernen von Telekommunikation für alle Kinder zwischen 3 und 7 Jahren, daher entwickelt es von frühem Alter an wesentliche Kompetenzen für das Informationszeitalter und den Aufbau eines Bewusstseins für internationale Verständigung. MMM verbessert auch die Kooperation zwischen Lehrern und fördert ihr Wissen über den Gebrauch von ICT bei der Erziehung im frühen Kindesalter. Letztlich entwickelt MMM eine Gemeinschaft von “e‐learning‐Kindern”, ihren Lehrern, anderen Personen im Fachbereich und Eltern.

Un projet pilote d’échange reposant sur les télécommunications et visant les compétences préscolaires

L’usage des TIC avec de jeunes enfants de 3 à 6 ans, ne consiste pas seulement à avoir des ordinateurs dans les classes de maternelle. Cela signifie une approche innovante de l’enseignement pré‐primaire,des idées de base et des changements de stratégies éducatives qui ouvrent de nouveaux horizons pour les éducateurs. Cet article décrit le projet MMM (Mini Web, Multilingue, Maxi Apprentissage).MMM est un projet d’alphabétisation précoce aux échanges médiatisés destiné à tous les enfants âgés de 3 à 7 ans ;il permet ainsi de développer à partir d’un âge préscolaire des compétences essentielles en ce siècle de l’Information et valables pour la vie entière et de développer une prise de conscience de la compréhension internationale.MMM renforce aussi la coopération entre les professeurs et accroît leur connaissance de l’usage des TIC dans l’enseignement à la petite enfance.A plus long terme, MMM créera une communauté d’ apprenants en ligne composée d’enfants, de leurs professeurs ainsi que d’autres enseignants et de parents.
