Notes
1. In 2010, in response to adolescent suicides of gay youth, American journalist Dan Savage and his partner Terry Miller created a video addressing LGBTQ youth. The video impressed upon youth that though their lives at home and in school were fraught with struggles, bullying and discrimination it would get better when they eventually step out into the world, have a job, find love, travel, make friends, have a home and so on. This started the It Gets Better campaign which sparked off many similar videos with youth as well as adults telling that it got better for them or that it will get better. Many celebrities, sports stars, actors and even President Obama, took part in addressing the issue of bullying and telling LGBTQ youth that it gets better.
