Notes
1 It is interesting that a sexology conference now taking place in Bari is entitled ‘Sexuality without reproduction—Reproduction without sexuality’, with a round table on sexuality in the climacteric.
2 At the end of the Middle Ages, Charles d’Orleans rummages in his ‘chest of memories’, he reveals to the reader with some bitterness his awareness that an old man is a ridiculous spectacle if he walks ‘the path of love’ that is more easily trodden by young people. Destruction and the disappearance of friends (Rutebeuf), instability and uncertainty (Eustache Deschamps) mark the personal time of an old man, in contrast with the lost and past time of love.
