Summary
The adult rat thyroid is established as a system in which mitotic activity is minimal. Recovery from radiation damage is demonstrated in thyroid cells in vivo using split-dose recovery curves and a fractionated-dose survival curve. The results are relevant to radiotherapy and possibly to the theory of recovery.
