A Difference in Haemopoietic Stem-cell Repopulation after D-T Neutron or X-irradiation

Pages 279-283 | Received 14 Jan 1972, Accepted 15 Mar 1972, Published online: 03 Jul 2009

Summary

The regeneration patterns of haemopoietic colony-forming units (CFU) in the femora and spleens of x-irradiated (450 rads) or neutron-irradiated (350 rads) mice were determined. In both haemopoietic sites, the CFU doubling-time was greater after neutrons than after x-rays. The results are discussed in relation to radiotherapy.
