The Effect of Hypertonic Shock on the Radiation Response of HeLa-3 Cells

Summary

Hypertonic shock reduced the extrapolation number and D0 of the HeLa S-3 survival curve. The D0 change persisted for some time after hypertonic shock, but the extrapolation number recovered with kinetics similar to x-ray recovery from radiation damage. A reciprocal effect of x-radiation on the sensitivity of cells to hypertonic shock was observed.
