Dr Ros Hague (1975–2017)

Dr Ros Hague died suddenly on 1 November 2017. Ros was a committed feminist and environmentalist. In addition to her research into feminist theory, she was also interested in studying the environment and the attitudes of those who live and work with nature – this latter interest leading to research on the Findhorn Foundation in Scotland. At the time of her death, Ros was gaining esteem in the wider academic community; as an energetic member of several environmental and feminist groups within her professional body – The Political Studies Association of the UK – and further afield.

As an established academic, Ros had held academic posts at both the University of Nottingham and then Nottingham Trent University. At both institutions she was well-respected and held in high esteem by students and colleagues for her research and dedicated teaching. It is therefore with some considerable pride and great fondness that we are pleased to see this posthumous publication of Ros’ work come to fruition. Ros was a dedicated colleague, friend and loving daughter to her father John. Always asking after others, she was kind, patient, compassionate and humorous. We are grateful to colleagues, the guest editors of this Special Issue and the editorial team of the Journal of Gender Studies for their assistance in bringing the work of our much missed former colleague to publication.

Dr Rose Gann BA PhD SFHEA, on behalf of the Department of Politics and International Relations at NTU.
