Abstract

Fluoride emission from the different steps of steelmaking by electric arc furnaces using fluoride flux has been studied. To reduce fluoride emission during the process, some improvements were demonstrated possible such as the addition of CaO to each scrap charge and the use of flux of lower fluoride content as a substitute for fluorspar. The efficiency of a pollution control system using bag filters was ‘tested for gaseous and particulate fluoride.
