‘Making It On The Out’: the resettlement needs of women offenders

Pages 34-41 | Published online: 13 Mar 2008

Abstract

It is widely acknowledged that the women's prison population has been growing at an unprecedented rate, so much so that three establishments for men have had to be re-designated as prisons for women and two new institutions are being established too. Clearly, women offenders are bearing much of the brunt of the recent trend of ‘prisoncentricity’. This has major implications for women's resettlement in the community.
