Mária PALASIK, Chess Game for Democracy: Hungary Between East and West, 1944–47

Pages 681-685 | Published online: 23 Aug 2012

Notes

1. Current edition is: Swain and Swain (Eastern Europe Since 1945).

2. Mark Pittaway (“The Politics of Legitimacy and Hungary's Postwar” 453–75) does discuss internment; Peter Kenez (Hungary from the Nazis to the Soviets) focuses on high-profile victims of retributive justice.

3. Kenez (Hungary from the Nazis to the Soviets 217–38) devotes a whole chapter to the affair, but did not have the benefit of accessing the state security archives.
