The direct translation from the Russian ‘pik’ tends to use the word ‘Peak’ and would be better recognised in the climbing literature as such but throughout the book by Romm he uses the term ‘Mount’. Following Romm's usage therefore, ‘Mount’ is used in the rest of this article.
