Notes

See Rosenberg (Citation2007), Seibt (Citation2009), Huebner (Citation2018), and Sachs (Citation2019).

What Stovall calls shared practical picturing is similar to what I called ‘cybernetic triangulation’ (Sachs Citation2022). Stovall and I developed these ideas independently, but his version is far more detailed.

That is, children from countries that are Western, Educated, Industrialized, and Rich Democracies.

Two other issues that I cannot discuss in a crucial review are Stovall’s theory of analogical reasoning and his brief but fascinating suggestion about how to give a naturalistic grounding to our commitment to the ideals of beauty, truth, and goodness.

I would like to thank Preston Stovall and Catherine Legg for helpful comments on a previous version of this review.
