When the above article was first published online, the bacterial uracil transporter UraA and the fungal purine transporter UapA with 7 + 7 inverted repeat folds was incorrectly listed under SLC22 in Table One, instead of under SLC23. This has now been corrected in the online and print version.
Additionally, the authors apologise for omitting to acknowledge the recent and significant publication by Alquel et al. (“Structure of eukaryotic purine/H + symporter UapA suggests a role for homodimerization in transport activity” Nature Communications. 2016; 7: 11336. doi: 10.1038/ncomms11336) which provided the structure of UapA, a well-characterized SLC23 nucleobase/ascorbate transporter (NAT) from the fungus Aspergillus nidulans, demonstrating the key role of the dimer in the transport mechanism.
