Abstract
The essential oil of the leaves and flowers of Phlomis persica Boiss. and Phlomis olivieri Benth. were isolated by hydrodistilation and subjected to the GC and GC-MS. 98.5 %, essential oils obtained from the leaves and 89.8 % from flowers of Phlomis persica and 98.9 % from leaves and 99.2 % from flowers of Phlomis olivieri were identified respectively. The oils were rich in sesquiterpenes, germacrene D was found as the major component (26.5 %, 19.5 %) and (37.6 %, 19.5 %) respectively in the leaves and flowers of Ph. persica and Ph. olivieri. Bicyclogermacrene was also abundant in the oils obtained from the leaves and flowers of the species: (18.7 %, 20.4 %) and (8.0 %, 5.7 %) respectively.
