Abstract

Citrus Reticulata ‘Dahongpao’ fruit peels were collected in three different time points from the same plant growing in China. The peel oils extracted by hydrodistillation were investigated by GC-MS to study the variability of oil components and their contents, and by ferric reducing-antioxidant power (FRAP) method to investigate the changeability of their antioxidative activities. The three kinds of oils had the same qualitative outcome while had some differences in quantitation. A total of 43 compounds were identified in oils, which represented 89.5 %, 89.8 %, 92.0 %, respectively. The main compounds in oils were limonene, γ- terpinene, and linalool accounting for 45.6-56.3 %, 6.1-7.8 %, and 4.4-11.9 %, respectively. The chemotype of limonene/linalool was distinguished for these oils from C. Reticulata ‘Dahongpao’ peels. The FRAP experiment result demonstrated that the oil's antioxidant activity was decreased as the harvest time became later, which should be correlated with the decreasing of oxygenated terpenes in oils as collecting time became later.
