Abstract

Chemical composition of essential oil from, leaves, stems and flowers of Salvia sclareopsis in flowering stage were determinated by using GC and GC/MS. Result showed that the main compounds of the leaves were viridiflorol, (23.47 %), humulene (18.37 %) and α-muurolene (8.37 %). Octadecane (20.57 %), caryophyllene oxide (7.68 %) and geranyl acetate (3.87 %) were major constituents in the stems also linalool (27.79 %), linalool oxide (9.41 %), and hexyl 2-methyl butyrate (5.16 %) were main compounds of the flowers. The antioxidant properties were measured by DPPH and β-carotene linoleaic acid tests. The result of DPPH assays showed that leaves are higher antioxidant campared with other organs, while in β-carotene linoleaic acid assay all organs have same antioxidant acivity.
