The Hong Kong Institution of Engineers has organised the HKIE Outstanding Paper Award for Young Engineers/Researchers since 2006, which has now reached its 11th consecutive year. The aim of the award is to encourage young engineers and researchers aged 35 or under to publish their work and advance in their professional fields, as well as promoting engineering among the younger generation. This international competition also serves as a platform for young engineers and researchers around the world to share theiraccomplishments.
This year we have received an encouraging number of high-quality submissions, and three outstanding papers have been selected from seven shortlisted papers for this year’s award. We were impressed with the quality of these papers. To showcase the remarkable achievement of the candidates to our fellow members and readers, the HKIE Transactions Committee has decided to publish the three award-winning papers and the four shortlisted papers in the December 2016 issue.
All the papers are now accessible online on the Taylor & Francis Platform, which is a special benefit offered to our members and subscribers that enhances the exposure of the award and allows the accomplishments of the candidates to reach a wider global readership.
On behalf of the Institution, I would like to express our heartfelt appreciation to the Panel of Judges for their contributions and to all the entrants for their participation.
We look forward to receiving more outstanding submissions from around the globe in next year’s competition, the details of which can be viewed at http://www.hkie.org.hk/eng/html/eventsNactivities/prizesnawards.asp.
