We regret to inform you that two longstanding collaborators have left our Editorial team.

We wish to thank very much the former Co-Editor and now Assistant Editor Dr. Dieter Mißbach. He accompanied our journal from the very beginning of the periodical as an international journal, it is, from the change of ‘Isotopenpraxis’ to ‘Isotopes in Environmental and Health Studies’ in 1991. He now retreated for private reasons of age. We wish Dieter all the best, and good health to him and his family.

We also wish to thank very much our longstanding Managing Editor Dr. Erika Jäger. We are sad and angry about the fact that her established post was not prolonged by the Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research (UFZ) Leipzig for financial reasons. For six years, she was our important and likeable colleague managing the daily duties of our office. Our authors and referees know her as a social partner who communicated easily with people, being always friendly and at the same time purposeful. We miss her! We wish Erika luck in finding a new job soon. We may congratulate the institution by which she will be employed.

Obituary

It is with a sense of deep sadness and profound loss that we report the death of Professor Dr. Dr. e. h. mult. Hubert Ziegler, former director of the Institute of Botany and Microbiology of the Technical University Munich, in April 2009.

He was a highly respected, very active member of our Editorial Board since the very beginning of the contemporary period of our journal as an international journal in 1991. His many critical reviews of manuscripts have contributed to the increasing high scientific level of our journal. Hubert Ziegler will be sorely missed.
