Abstract

Two new cyclolanostanol glycosides, cimifoetiside IV (1) and cimifoetiside V (2) and two known compounds have been isolated from the aerial part of Cimicifuga foetida L. On the basis of spectral and chemical evidences, the structures of 1 and 2 were elucidated to be 25-O-acetylcimigenol-3-O-β-d-glucopyranosyl-(1″→2′)-β-d-xylopyranoside (1) and cimigenol-3-O-β-d-glucopyranosyl-(1′″→2″)-β-d-glucopyranosyl-(1″→2′)-β-d-xylopyranoside (2). The known compounds were identified as 25-O-acetylcimigenol-3-O-β-d-glucopyranosyl-(1→3)-β-d-xylopyranoside (3) and 23-O-acetylshengmanol-3-O-β-d-glucopyranosyl-(1→3)-β-d-xylopyranoside (4).
