Industrial Restructuring in the New South Wales Coal Mining Industry

Abstract

Coal mining tends to be an isolated industry, popularly seen as traditional and conflict-prone. At the same time, it is a major Australian exporter which is undergoing extensive change in work practices and work organization. This paper examines recent developments in award restructuring within the New South Wales coal mining industry and considers the probable effects of restructuring.
