Notes on contributor

Dr Mathew Davies is head of the International Relations Department at the ANU. His work focuses on the intersection of human rights, regional orders and international relations theory, with a particular interest in the Asia-Pacific.

Notes

1. These two are not the only areas of obligation, and a fuller response to the issue would need to include administrative activities and impact with non-academic communities.

2. The idea of university citizenship and obligations, as well as the idea of ethical failure discussed later, comes from Bruhn et al. (Citation2002).

3. This was not something I thought much about until the 2015 annual conference for the International Feminist Journal of Politics, held at the University of Queensland, where I heard Dr Ma. Lourdes Veneracion-Rallonza speak passionately about academia as an extractive industry.
