Steven M. Shapiro is co-author of the book Climate Chaos: Your Health at Risk, which examines the physical and mental health consequences of climate change's harm and explores how people can change their behavior to deter climate change. Shapiro also is co-coordinator of Psychologists for Social Responsibility's Climate Change, Sustainability, and Psychology Program, and has recently played a role in developing PsySR's new Poverty and Inequality Project. In his practice, Shapiro is a Clinical Supervisor and Counseling Psychologist at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center's Community Psychiatry Program. The outreach programs he oversees provide mental health services and systems interventions to indigent children and families in homes, schools, and other community settings in Baltimore, MD.
