Aleksi Ylönen
Aleksi Ylönen is a Research Fellow at the Center for International Studies (CEI-IUL), Iscte-Instituto Universitário de Lisboa, Portugal. He is also a frequent visiting lecturer in various Peace Studies and International Relations postgraduate programs in Europe and Africa and a member of the International Peace Research Association (IPRA) and the African Studies Group of the Autonomous University of Madrid. Dr. Ylönen holds a PhD in International Relations and African Studies (2011) from Autonomous University of Madrid, Spain, a Master’s Degree in Peace, Conflict, and Development Studies from the UNESCO Chair of Philosophy for Peace in Castellón, Spain, and a Bachelor of Arts in History from the College of Charleston, South Carolina. His research focuses on critical analysis of peace, conflict, and security issues, including the state and non-state actors, governance, and separatism, and his geographical expertise centers on the greater Horn of Africa.
