Abstract
A recyclable sulfated copper oxide catalyst in acetonitrile is effective for the synthesis of N-fused benzimidazolo/benzothiazolo pyrimidine derivatives by the reaction of 2-aminobenzimidazole/2-aminobenzothiazole, phenyl acetylene, and benzaldehydes. This method is a unified approach to assemble a wide variety of fused pyrmidines.
