Green, Reusable and Efficient Silica Supported SiO2-BiCl3 Catalyzed Synthesis of Meso-Dipyrromethane at Room Temperature

Abstract

Simple, mild and highly efficient protocol has been developed by using heterogeneous silica supported SiO2-BiCl3 (5 mol%) catalyst from the condensation of pyrrole (1, 2 mol%) and various substituted aryl aldehyde(2, 1 mol%) to afforded meso-dipyrromethane (3a-j) with excellent yields at room temperature. We synthesize a series of meso-dipyrromethane (3a-j) derivatives. The feature of reaction requirds mild reaction condition, shorter reaction time, high yield of products and recyclability of catalyst makes this method a good option for the synthesis of meso-dipyrromethane (3a-j) derivatives. All the synthesized 3a-j was confirmed by IR, 1H NMR, 13C NMR and LCMS.
