Abstract

The Biginelli reaction is a one pot multicomponent reaction involves aromatic aldehyde, β-keto ester, and urea or thiourea in presence cationic exchange resins Purolite CT275DR supplied by Purolite to afford the corresponding dihydropyrimidine-2-one and there sulfur analog 3,4-dihydropyrimidine-2-thione in solvent free condition gave high yield and catalyst could be recycle and reused without much decrease in the catalytic activity.
