Abstract
An efficient procedure for the synthesis of benzochromene derivatives: 2,4-dihydroxyacetophenone, isopropenylacetylene, aldehydes, alkyl bromides and triphenylphosphine in the presence of magnetically reusable Fe3O4/ZnO magnetic nanoparticles as a heterogeneous catalyst, in water at room temperature, is investigated. In this research, the Fe3O4/ZnO magnetic nanoparticles were synthesized through a green method using Petasites hybridus rhizome water extract as a reducing and stabilizing agent. Also, the antioxidant activity of some synthesized compounds was studied. Moreover, the antimicrobial activity of some synthesized compounds proved by employing the disk diffusion test on gram-positive and -negative bacteria. The workup of reaction is simple and the products can be separated easily from the reaction mixture. Fe3O4/ZnO magnetic nanoparticles show a good improvement in the yield of the product and the catalyst displayed significant reusable activity.
