Abstract
Novel symmetrical tetrapodal ligands containing two bidentate chelating pyrazole-tetrazole subunits with flexible lateral arm, were synthesized and characterized. A copper catalysis study for the synthesis of 1-1-((2H-tetrazol-5-yl) methyl)-5-methyl-3-methoxycarbonyl pyrazole 3 was performed. The best yield (96%) was obtained by using the copper nitrate salt Cu(NO3)2 in DMF as solvent. The antibacterial activity of the tetrapodal ligands and intermediate compounds was investigated by determining the inhibition zone diameter on Mueller–Hinton agar medium. The obtained results show that these molecules possess a medium activity against all tested bacteria compared to gentamicin used as a reference compound.
