Abstract

Laminar air flow with uniform heat flux from the last half-wall of a pipe length was studied numerically with an application of a strong magnet field from a coil placed at the mid-length of the pipe. Pressure boundary condition was used to accommodate the possible change in the flow rate. Converged pressure and axial pressure gradient showed the effect of magnetizing force as an additional driving force to enhance the volume flow rate. Increased volume flow rate decreased the thickness of the velocity and thermal boundary layers.
