REVERSE TIME MODELING OF THERMAL PROBLEMS USING THE TRANSMISSION LINE MATRIX APPROACH

Pages 249-264 | Published online: 30 Nov 2010

Abstract

The possibility of using inverse scattering for reverse time modeling of thermal diffusion problems using the transmission line matrix is discussed. Consideration is given to network parameterization via a series of numerical experiments. A three-dimensional implementation shows that, although there is a tendency for rounding errors to accumulate, it is possible to use reverse time modeling to reconstruct a previous temperature distribution and the thermal history of individual points in space.
