Abstract
Pressure-based finite-volume numerical schemes for incompressible flow problems have been implemented on both staggered and nonstaggered grids. This article presents an alternative co-located finite-volume discretization scheme which employs a single interpolation formula for both convected and convecting velocity components. The proposed method, called the method of proper closure equations (MPCE), provides a systematic discretization approach for the numerical solution of a set of coupled equations such as the fluid flow governing equations. One-dimensional test problems are used to introduce and validate the MPCE, but the method is also applicable in multidimensional problems.
