The use of case studies in pre-experience business education: Three examples in practice

Pages 83-85 | Received 01 Jan 1984, Published online: 28 Feb 2007

Abstract

This article was prompted by three previous articles in the journal and the experience of the author at his previous college. The article describes the various attempts made by the BEC Course Team to make their course more relevant for their students, not only in general business terms but also with particular regard to problems experienced by the local business community. It attempts to show how the traditional approach to teaching by the case method can be modified so that more effective learning can be experienced by the student. It is hoped that this will prompt further response from teachers (see the Editorial in this journal, January 1983) in order that this method of teaching and learning can be explored in its widest possible sense.
