Notes
1. Petticrew et al. (2020) fault us for not providing readers with more information about the “Stop Out of Control Drinking” campaign. Unfortunately, it would not be feasible for us to provide the full cultural and historical context of every intervention that was evaluated in these 55 studies we reviewed.
2. We followed the journal’s instructions regarding the presentation of acknowledgments to allow for blinded review. Specifically, we submitted to the journal’s editor a separate, non-blinded title page that included the FAAR acknowledgment and indicated that we had generated an additional list of funding sources beyond this particular study. Likewise, because our complete list of funding sources is not compatible with blinded review, we submitted a blinded version of our Online supplemental material document that included this statement: “Subsequent to blinded peer review, the Online Supplemental Material will list sources of funding for the authors and their institution beyond this particular research project.” Once our publication was in press, we prepared a new version of the Online Supplemental Material, complete with all funding sources beyond this particular study, and provided it to the journal’s editor.
3. In the seven months that elapsed between our submission of the manuscript and preparation of this response, we reported these funding sources on at least four public-facing webpages (e.g., https://www.basisonline.org/2019/10/whats-next-in-open-science-for-the-division-on-addiction.html).
