The essential oil of Nepeta cataria L. obtained from plants collected in full bloom stage, was analyzed by GC and GG/MS. Fifteen main components representing more than 95% of the total oil were identified. Nepetalactone (57.30%), dihydronepetalactone (3.43%), β-caryophyllene (8.10%), α-humulene (1.27%), β-farnesene (2.14%), caryophyllene oxide(19.35%) and humulene oxide I (1.63%) were the major components.
