Abstract
Volatile compounds were isolated from fruits of Siparuna thecaphora (Poepp. et Endl.) A. DC. by simultaneous steam distillation-solvent extraction. Compounds were identified by capillary GC/MS. One hundred and thirty compounds were identified, with the major representatives being atractylone (12.7% of the total volatiles) and curzerene (11.7% of the total volatiles). The significant amounts of neral and geranial, with their powerful lemon fragrances, contribute much to the typical fruit flavor.
