Abstract
Composition of the hydrodistilled oil of Cyperus glomeratus (Cyperaceae) (underground parts) obtained in 0.06% w/w yield was determined by GC and GC/MS. One-hundred-seven components were identified, accounting for 97.6% of the total oil. The major components were caryophyllene oxide (44.8%), humulene epoxide II (14.1%), β-caryophyllene (12.6%) and α-humulene (7.8%). Terpenoids (96.9%) constituted the main fraction of the oil, with oxygenated sesquiterpenes (70.5%) and sesquiterpene hydrocarbons (23.2%) as the most abundant compound classes.
